Holistic HealingIs Atkins Diet Conducive To Preventing Acne?
If you have acne I am sure that you are tired with it and embarrassed of it, and am sure you are tired of all the food you gave up because you heard it causes acne. You have heard a lot of rumors about foods that are said to cause acne and you were happy to hear that most of them turned out to be myths, now here is one that might actually be a good thing if it is true.
Now if you are looking to lose some weight then I guess that the Atkins diet would be great for you but as far as it helping to prevent acne I do not really think that it would help. You see the Atkins diet is one which is low in carbs; there are two different types of carbs, the fast digesting carbs and slowly digesting carbs. Carbohydrates that digest more slowly than faster digesting carbs are actually proven to help in improving acne conditions and help in preventing acne. So the Atkins would be using something that actually does not help in preventing acne conditions.
With the Atkins diet you do not consume as much sugar or fat and these foods can be linked to increased outbreaks of acne so this is one benefit. However, the Atkins diet also encourages the consumption of meats, eggs, and butter which are full of fats that are not beneficial to your health when consumed in large amounts. Meats in general are mostly pure protein and protein is linked with clearer skin. However, meats are all pumped full of chemicals which can have an adverse reaction with your skin type, and the hormones found in beef and chicken used to increase the size of the animal and thus the meat production can increasing the hormone levels in your own body thus causing a breakout of acne.
As stated before the Atkins diet is just that, a diet and your diet can affect your acne. Your diet cannot actually cause or prevent your acne, but there is a link between what you consume and the severity of your acne. Slow digesting carbs have been shown to lessen the severity of your acne, simply by improving the health of your skin and with the atkins diet there are no carbs slow or fast digesting so the Atkins diet is not in fact conducive to preventing acne in any way shape or form.

While the GFCF diet is showing great promise in helping many who suffer from severe symptoms regain some control over their lives, it is not the perfect method that has been thoroughly tested. People should carefully do research to learn as much as possible before attempting this diet so that they know exactly what to do if a problem occurs and what results they should expect. It is also recommended that it not be attempted if you are unwilling or unable to track the symptoms with each food change to ensure you are able to accurately note the problem foods.
While care should be taken when attempting this method, there is, nothing that says it is unsuccessful or dangerous. Nevertheless, with any diet, it does have its risks that should be considered carefully before beginning. With proper planning, patience and a willingness to do the appropriate research, it is possible to greatly improve the quality of life of those who suffer from Tourettes.
